Airlines Adjust Their Strategies for the 2026–2027 Peak Season
During October, airlines began defining their strategies for the 2026–2027 peak season, taking into account both the expected increase in summer travel and the economic challenges facing the industry. Key factors include rising aviation fuel prices and changes in international passenger traffic, prompting airlines to carefully evaluate their operational decisions.
In response, several airlines are preparing adjustments to flight frequencies, capacity, and destination offerings, seeking to meet demand without compromising the sustainability of their operations. Representatives from Santiago Airport also emphasized the importance of permanently restoring routes and frequencies, strengthening Chile’s international connectivity beyond peak travel periods.

Airbus Forecasts Demand for 2,720 New Passenger Aircraft in Latin America
Airbus forecasts that Latin America will require 2,720 new passenger aircraft by 2045, according to its 2026–2045 Global Market Forecast. Economic growth, urbanization, and the expansion of the middle class are among the main factors expected to drive air travel demand and support the development of new routes throughout the region.
The forecast primarily includes single-aisle aircraft, intended both to expand existing fleets and replace older-generation models. This fleet renewal will enable airlines to improve efficiency and reduce emissions, while air traffic to and from Latin America is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 3.7% over the next two decades.

From October 16 to 18, the San Felipe Air Festival 2026 took place at Víctor Lafón Airfield, bringing together families, aviation enthusiasts, pilots, and representatives of the aviation community. Throughout the event, attendees enjoyed aircraft exhibitions, aviation-related activities, flight simulators, and presentations designed to bring aviation closer to the public in the Aconcagua Valley.
One of the main highlights was the participation of the Chilean Air Force, featuring its Blue Berets Parachute Team, along with a DHC-6 Twin Otter aircraft and a Bell 412 helicopter. The event served as an opportunity to promote aviation, showcase the capabilities of participating institutions, and strengthen the connection between the aviation industry and the community.
