Ver en EspañolSeptember is always a special month for Chile, as we celebrate our National Holidays. During this month, we honor our identity and traditions and celebrate everything that brings us together as a country. In a nation as vast and diverse as ours, connectivity plays a fundamental role in bringing people, regions, and opportunities closer together.
Across Chile’s unique and challenging geography, Aerocardal puts its full capabilities at the service of that connectivity. We connect remote areas of Chile by supporting public and private hospitals with the transportation of patients aboard our air ambulances, while also bringing travelers closer to the spectacular landscapes of southern Chile, the rugged Atacama Desert, and the remote islands of the Juan Fernández Archipelago.
Our contribution also extends beyond our borders. We connect Chilean executives and companies with international destinations, while facilitating the arrival of foreign companies and professionals to our country, supporting commercial exchange and creating new opportunities to connect Chile with the world.

LATAM transported nearly 60 million passengers between January and August
LATAM Airlines transported 7.9 million passengers in August, 2.6% more than in the same month of 2025. Between January and August, the group carried a total of 59.9 million passengers, representing growth of 4.9% compared with the same period of the previous year.
During August, the group’s consolidated capacity increased by 7% year over year, driven mainly by growth in international capacity. The results reflect the evolution of air travel activity in the region and the strengthening of connectivity across the different markets in which the company operates.
Open 24 hours: La Araucanía Airport extends its operations to improve flight availability
La Araucanía Airport began operating 24 hours a day in September, extending the terminal’s operating hours to boost air traffic and create new opportunities for flights to and from the region.
The measure aims to encourage greater competition among airlines and respond to growing passenger demand. With this change, La Araucanía becomes the second regional airport in Chile to implement round-the-clock operations, strengthening the conditions for the development of regional air connectivity.
LATAM adds a new route between Santiago and Salvador de Bahia
LATAM Airlines Brazil announced a new direct international connection between Santiago, Chile, and Salvador de Bahia, scheduled to begin operations on January 3, 2027. The route will initially operate three weekly frequencies during the peak summer season.
Flights will be operated with Airbus A320 family aircraft and will reduce travel time between the two cities by approximately three hours compared with current connecting alternatives. The new route expands direct connectivity options between Chile and Brazil.
MOP to tender major maintenance works at La Junta Aerodrome this year
The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) announced that the tender process for major maintenance works at La Junta Aerodrome, in the Aysén Region, will move forward during 2026. The project seeks to improve the conditions of this aviation infrastructure, which is particularly important for connectivity in an area where aviation plays a fundamental role due to the distances and geographical characteristics of the territory.
The initiative recently received the favorable recommendation required to proceed with the tender process. The project is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and strengthen Chile’s regional aerodrome network, helping ensure suitable infrastructure for air operations and connectivity among communities in southern Chile.
