After participating in the international \u201cBest Tourism Villages\u201d contest organized by UN Tourism, the town of San Juan Bautista on Robinson Crusoe Island was selected for the \u201cUpgrade\u201d Program aimed at improving its competitiveness during the award ceremony held in Cartagena de Indias.<\/span><\/p>\n

The \u201cBest Tourism Villages\u201d initiative is part of the UN Tourism Rural Development Program. The program strives to enhance development and inclusion in rural areas, combat depopulation, promote innovation and value chain integration through tourism, and encourage sustainable practices.<\/span><\/p>\n

In its 2024 edition, the international organization received 260 applications, including 8 from our country. As a result, Ralco was recognized as a tourism village, while Choshuenco, Malalcahuello, and San Juan Bautista were selected for the Improvement Program.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding this achievement, the Mayor of Juan Fern\u00e1ndez, Pablo Manr\u00edquez, emphasized, \u201cWe are very happy as a municipality, as we have received the news that we are part of the ‘Upgrade’ program of the ‘Best Tourism Village,’ for specific recognitions, such as being a fishing cove with over 130 years of sustainable economic activity and being the second-largest Marine Protected Area in all of the Americas.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
